:) And I'm happy for that because I learned about so many great games here. Heh, this sub seems primarily oriented on sharing knowledge about your "Other" category, so no surprises if this category wins out. So why not just keep Odyssey and let it get polished? And until then, try out a different game like Star Citizen or something else? He will answer any questions you throw at him about the game. In particular, XeroState who streams Star Citizen exclusively every day. Your best bet would be to head over to Twitch and check out some Star Citizen streams. The game looks great and has a lot of content in its current state. The outspoken trolls who trash Star Citizen will also one day be silent. Just as people trashed No Man's Sky back in the day but not anymore. So why not support the development?Īs far as Star Citizen, there's a small group of outspoken trolls that trash it any chance they get. So there's no reason to refund Odyssey as once it's better, you'll just end up getting it again anyway. And they will continue to work on performance. The planet tiling issue is a non-issue and not that big of a deal considering the size and scope of the game. No Man's Sky and Outer Wilds are both included in Game Pass, along with a bunch of non-space games.Į:D will continue to get bigger and better. Instead of trying to get your money back to partly offset the cost of an unfinished game, I would actually recommend buying Xbox game pass or something, to try out loads of different games, while waiting for either game to enter a more finished and stable state. False advertising is a very specific claim, and I'm pretty sure a refund would be at the mercy of the publisher. I would personally wait to buy Odyssey, but if you've alreay bought it, refunding it is probably going to be a bother. As it is now, it promises you the universe, but a bigger ship is only for people willing to fork over hard cash.Īs to the tiling issue in Odyssey, it seems like something you could ignore, and Frontier has stated that they will focus on performance and bugs, as well as more features, ahead of literally redoing the entire planetary generation system.

Wait for a free weekend, or buy a $45 or $65 starter pack if you're really curious, but I'd recommend waiting until the game's out of alpha and you can get a better sense of how the game will actually play. I'm not saying you shouldn't ever consider buying it, but I'd definitely not spend my hard earned money to buy ludicrously expensive virtual ships. I have no faith whatsoever in SC ever being released in a finished and stable form, with all of its promised features actually present. This might infuriate some people, but Star Citizen has been in development for the last 11-12 years, and has seen the kind of hype and cult-behaviour that makes the release of Cyberpunk 2077 seem like a mildly dissapointing non-event. Again, people who have been playing both might be able to advise me better on that. It is likely that right now Odyssey is still the most finished product, however from what I see the tendency is for SC to get a lot more content and fixes in the future, while Elite might be slowly dying out. P.S: When I say 2022 I'm referring not only about the state of the game right now but also future prospects.

Would this be an upgrade or a downgrade? I'd like the opinion of people who own/have played both in recent times before taking my conclusions. I have considered refunding Odyssey on the grounds of false advertisement now that Frontier has confirmed it will not be fixed, and getting Star Citizen instead. I know the game made significant progress since then but not exactly to what extent. It was too unfinished both content-wise and stability-wise for me to enjoy it. I have tried Star Citizen once about 4 years ago and as much as I wanted to like the game I couldn't. This is one among a chain of announcements by Frontier on progress that will not be made (the most notorious being the cancelled console release) in Odyssey and the tendency is for the list to grow.

Frontier has just announced they will not fix planet generation. I've mostly stopped since Odyssey DLC mostly for performance issues and planet generation being broken, which hits hard during exploration gameplay. I've been playing Elite: Dangerous for years, mostly exploration gameplay.
